Toygers Australia

Toygers Australia is a small in-home cattery located in Baxter, on the Mornington Peninsula about 50 minutes from Melbourne CBD. We made the decision to relocate to our new 17 acre property from inner city Melbourne to provide more space and a better lifestyle for our breeding cats.

Toygers Australia is the first Victorian breeding program, and the second Toyger breeding program in Australia.

Our Toyger cats and their kittens are registered through The International Cat Association (TICA) using the pedigree prefix 'Aussie Made".

About the Toyger Cat

Judy Sugden created the Toyger breed in the 1980's. Thanks to Judy and many other overseas Toyger breeders, the Toyger cat gained full championship status through TICA is 2007 and is taking the world by storm. There are currently less than 40 Toyger breeding programs worldwide and are all working towards the main goal of creating the ultimate miniature Tiger.

The Toyger cat has an amazing short and plush coat that is full of shimmering glitter with a brown, orange or silver background colour and striking braided black rosetted stripes.Unlike a striped tabby cat, the Toyger cat has broken or branched bold vertical stripes.

Toyger cats are generally no larger than a medium sized domestic cat and despite being bred to resemble the Tiger cat are not at all related to Tigers.

The Toyger cat has a very placid, friendly and outgoing personality, and gets along well with other household pets. As the Toyger cat is intelligent, they are easily leash trained, taught to play fetch amongst other tricks on command. Their placid and laid back personality makes a great addition to any household wanting an amazing looking household pet.
